Head Medical are seeking post-foundation doctors with at least 12 months’ experience in Anaesthetics/ ICU for exciting opportunities in the beautiful Hawke’s Bay region of New Zealand. This is an excellent chance to further develop your clinical skills in a busy, supportive environment while enjoying an incredible lifestyle outside of work.The RoleYou will be based in a large, modern 400-bed secondary hospital, one of the biggest provincial hospitals in New Zealand, providing both acute and elective care for a population of over 162,000. The hospital offers a wide range of services, including surgical, medical, oncology, and radiology, alongside outreach care in rural communities.Within the Intensive Care Unit, you’ll gain exposure to both adult and paediatric patients, including major trauma, complex medical presentations, and inter-hospital transfers. The ICU is supported by:
  • 8 Intensive Care Consultants
  • 12 Intensive Care Registrars
  • A strong team of specialist nurses, educators, and managers
The hospital’s Emergency Department sees around 46,000 attendances per year, with a 30% admission rate, ensuring excellent exposure to a broad mix of high-acuity cases.This role offers outstanding hands-on experience, making it ideal for doctors considering an out-of-programme experience in New Zealand.The LocationThe Hawke’s Bay region (pop. 162,000) sits on the stunning east coast of New Zealand’s North Island.
