Our Planning & Policy team is looking for an experienced Senior Planner - Plan Development to take a leading role in managing and evolving Kaipara's District Plan. Ready to make an impact?In this pivotal role, you'll provide expert planning advice, oversee plan changes, and work closely with iwi, stakeholders, and the community to deliver outcomes that matter.As a Senior Planner, you will:
  • Manage the ongoing review, monitoring, and maintenance of the Kaipara District Plan.
  • Ensure the District Plan aligns with national and regional standards, legislation, and Council strategies.
  • Prepare and present reports, evidence, and recommendations for hearings, Council, and the Environment Court.
  • Manage and process private plan changes.
  • Provide planning advice across Council teams.
  • Undertake research and analysis to inform policy options and strategic planning.
  • Build strong relationships with iwi, stakeholders, and the community through effective engagement and consultation.
About YouWe're looking for a strategic thinker and skilled communicator with:
  • A tertiary qualification in Resource Management or a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in planning, including involvement in RMA Schedule 1 processes.
  • Strong understanding of the Resource Management Act, Local Government Act, and related legislation.
  • Experience preparing s32 and s42A reports and presenting evidence.
  • Membership (or eligibility) with the New Zealand Planning Institute.
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to engaging with iwi and communities.
