This is a Wellington based company. This role will involve either regular travel to Wellington, or the potential to relocate.An innovative New Zealand tech company is preparing to launch a next-generation consumer robotics product - and they're looking for a senior engineering leader to help drive it across the finish line.This is a rare opportunity to step into a Head of Engineering role with ownership across hardware, mechatronics, embedded systems, and software teams. You'll be joining at a critical point: the product is gearing up for commercial launch, and your leadership will help shape the final delivery and future roadmap.About the role
As Head of Engineering, you'll lead a multidisciplinary team spanning hardware, electrical, firmware, mobile, and cloud development. Working closely with product managers and senior leadership, you'll provide direction across design, validation, and production - ensuring milestones are met and the product is market-ready.You'll also support future enhancements and feature additions post-launch, guiding the team through an ambitious and evolving roadmap.Key responsibilities:
- Lead engineering delivery across hardware, embedded, and software teams
- Oversee validation stages (EVT, DVT, PVT) and production readiness
- Work closely with product, software, and leadership to refine and deliver the product
- Provide clear decision-making and conflict resolution across disciplines
- Support post-launch upgrades and new feature development
- 10+ years of engineering experience with commercial or industrial robotics
- Proven track record of taking products to market
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams (electrical, mechanical, software)
- Strong knowledge of engineering validation and product life cycle management
- Confident communicator and team leader with strong decision-making skills
- Salary $160 – $220K + employee share options
