Animal-assisted therapy has been shown to promote emotional wellbeing, and contact with gentle animals provides comfort and helps people to be happier. Hato Hone St John has developed a programme to share animal companions within local rest homes, hospitals and schools within the local community. Therapy Pets is a voluntary programme that enhances the lives of others, and we need your help! We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to become a Therapy Pet Team Leader for our Gore team. We are also open to having Co-Team Leaders.About the role:

Provide support and mentoring advice to the team
Recruit new volunteers, and liaise with the facilities visited by volunteers
Reporting and attending Area Committee Meetings as required
Organising recognition events, meetings and training for the team

Some key requirements:

Excellent communication skills, an empathetic personality and a genuine interest in the well-being of others
Previous team management experience
Love of animals (experience working with animals a plus)
Competent computer skills
Over 18 years of age
Clean criminal record
