Animal-assisted therapy has been shown to promote emotional wellbeing, and contact with gentle animals provides comfort and helps people to be happier. Hato Hone St John has developed a programme to share animal companions within local rest homes, hospitals and schools within the local community. Therapy Pets is a voluntary programme that enhances the lives of others, and we need your help! We are looking for a passionate and driven individual to become a Therapy Pet Team Leader for our Gore team. We are also open to having Co-Team Leaders.About the role:
  • Provide support and mentoring advice to the team
  • Recruit new volunteers, and liaise with the facilities visited by volunteers
  • Reporting and attending Area Committee Meetings as required
  • Organising recognition events, meetings and training for the team
Some key requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills, an empathetic personality and a genuine interest in the well-being of others
  • Previous team management experience
  • Love of animals (experience working with animals a plus)
  • Competent computer skills
  • Over 18 years of age
  • Clean criminal record
