This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday - with the hours being between 1pm - 9.30pm to meet the demand in ED.The primary function of the role is to undertake Alcohol and Drug screening and brief and early interventions in the Whangarei Hospital Emergency Department. You will act as a resource and support for the Emergency Department Staff by providing information and education on substance use, motivational interviewing, brief intervention and harm reduction. There will also be support provided on a monthly basis to the Emergency Departments in Bay of Islands and Kaitaia.The Registered Health Clinician – Alcohol and Drug Focussed Screening and Brief Intervention also provides a range of other services to support the development and function of the team and the organisation as a whole. These activities include: case consultation, staff training and supervision, involvement in service development activities, and research and evaluation-related activities.
There is also opportunity for innovative involvement to help identify opportunities for service development to enhance alcohol and drug services – Rataora Screening and Brief Intervention and Te Ara Oranga.About you:This is an advanced clinician role and therefore we are looking for someone with broad clinical knowledge and experience who values teamwork and is an innovative and flexible thinker, motivated by excellent clinical outcomes. This role requires you to be adaptable to change, resourceful and flexible to service needs.· Registered Health Clinician with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
· Police clearance to meet contractual requirements and the Children's Act 2014
· A full drivers licence with no limitations
· Experienced with working in a multi-disciplinary team
· At least 3 years clinical experience working within mental health and addictions
· Experienced working within an emergency setting
