Mō te tūnga | About the roleThe purpose of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) group is to work in partnership with the rest of the organisation to provide digital technology and communication solutions that support excellence in Policing and service delivery and enable Police's strategic ambitions.With a primary hub in Wellington, and a presence throughout the country, we run and deliver new and enhanced solutions directly and via specialist vendor partnerships. We provide expert advice on how technology can be leveraged to support Police operations and strategies and we turn concepts into reality through collaborative development.The Senior Commercial Specialist (ICT) will work with ICT and the National Procurement Team (NPT) to ensure sourcing and supplier management meets ICT's requirements within NPT's established rules and frameworks. This role oversees the supplier relationships and performance through the provision of commercial expertise to ICT Senior Leaders, Product Managers and Technical Product Owners.The ICT group have recently implemented a new Product based operating model within which the new Senior Commercial Specialist (ICT) role will work closely with product groups to provide commercial expertise and advice. The role provides advice on the management of contracts developing strong performance management indicators and providing opportunities for improvement in the relationship and services received. It also helps ensure Police optimise value from those partnerships, balancing cost, risks and other factors using best commercial practice.They will connect and maintain healthy engagement with key strategic partners to ensure the relationship with ICT is functioning optimally, while also advising on potential future opportunities that ICT should be considering to support ICT and Police's strategic objectives.Key Accountabilities:
  • Provides sound and commercial advice to Police stakeholders, particularly Product Managers and Technical Product Owners.
  • Inputs into procurement processes and reviews contracts and other commercial documents so these are commercially sound.
  • Actively seeks out and drives value and improvements from ICT services and products for our contracted arrangements.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders, partners and vendors to deliver solutions that best meet Police's strategic objectives
