Working closely with the Superintendent, you will play a key role in developing the mining strategy, whilst mentoring and developing less experienced engineers.Key responsibilities
- Lead by example and mentor a group of mining professionals, providing continual professional development.
- To proactively and continually assess the overall mining strategy to make improvements and optimize efficiency.
- Generate the short to mid-term mine plan, aligned with long term requirements.
- Monitor and report on mining costs and performance against the long term plan.
- Regular reporting, including weekly and monthly reports.
- Mine design and progression of various underground projects.
- Oversee implementation of geotechnical designs, monitoring, reporting and liaison with consultants.
- Ensure the various mining schedules integrate efficiently - development schedule, production schedule, rehabilitation schedule, geotechnical schedule, and maintenance schedules.
- Oversee production drill and blast operations and ensure these are optimized and that the production engineers provide a quality service to the drill and blast production team.
- Coach, support and develop the team to build knowledge and skills to provide coverage and to build succession plans.
- Mining Engineering degree or equivalent
- Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years post graduate experience.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Suite, Pronto, Deswik CAD, Aegis preferred.
- Residential role, live and work in the stunning region of Otago, NZ.
- Monday - Friday, 9-day fortnight - enjoy a long weekend, every other week.
