Baywide Community Law Service is dedicated to providing free legal assistance to individuals with low incomes, disabilities, or other disadvantages. With offices in Tauranga and Whakatāne and regional clinics, we aim to positively impact our community.As one of our Client Coordinators, you'll be the initial point of contact for clients and visitors to our Tauranga office. Your role will involve using your exceptional organisational and decision-making skills and paralegal experience to provide valuable assistance to people in need. This part-time position requires you to work Wednesday to Friday, with some flexibility in hours.Key responsibilities include:
  • Screening and handling all incoming enquiries by phone, email, or in-person visits.
  • Providing support to clients, including providing legal information, referrals, and distributing resources.
  • Assessing and triaging client needs, eligibility for legal advice and coordinating appointments with our solicitors.
  • Coordinating legal clinics.
  • Managing client satisfaction surveys.

Our ideal candidate will have:
  • A paralegal qualification, actively working towards one, or relevant knowledge and experience.
  • Previous administrative experience, preferably in legal, community-based, or non-profit settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic manner.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and sensitively.
  • Ability to respect Tikanga Māori in interactions with clients.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and decision-making abilities
  • Multilingual skills, particularly Te Reo Māori, would be advantageous.
