Depending on your location, your role may include:
Assessment and management of solid tumour malignancies
Outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations
Supervision of chemotherapy and systemic therapies
Participation in multidisciplinary tumour boards
Teaching, research and service improvement initiatives
Common tumour streams in New Zealand include breast, colorectal, lung, prostate, upper GI, gynaecological and haematological malignancies. Opportunities exist to develop a subspecialty interest or support service innovation in areas such as clinical trials, rural outreach and survivorship care.What it's like to work hereMedical Oncologists work closely with Radiation Oncologists, Haematologists, Palliative Care and surgical teams to deliver integrated cancer care.
