Te Puna Aronui, the School of Humanities, wishes to recruit a Lecturer in Art History for a 2-year appointment commencing before the start of Semester 2, 2024. The successful candidate will need to be able to teach courses in Renaissance, Baroque and Early Modern, as well as developing a Stage 2/3 Course in their own area of expertise, which ideally would be of a global nature. Knowledge of the art of Aotearoa New Zealand is expected.Candidates should have a completed or nearly completed PhD in Art History, demonstrated achievement in research and have a record of successful teaching in a tertiary setting at undergraduate level. The successful applicant will also be able to contribute to and coordinate a jointly taught Stage 1 course in ARTHIST 114 Understanding Art: Leonardo to Warhol and/or ARTHIST 115 Global Art Histories as well as take on a small amount of Honours supervision.The workload split will be 60% teaching, 20% service (Post Graduate Advisor role), 20% research.Applicants who successfully reach the interview stage will be expected to present what their proposed Stage 2/3 thematic course might be.This is a full-time (40 hours per week), 2 year fixed-term opportunity.

Te Puna Aronui, the School of Humanities, is situated within Te Kura Tangata | The Faculty of Arts. The school is comprised of the disciplines of Art History, Classical Studies and Ancient History, English and Drama, History, Philosophy, Media and Screen, Museums and Cultural Heritage, and Theological and Religious Studies.
