Position OverviewCrane Works NZ Ltd is seeking a qualified and safety-focused Crane Operator to join their Cromwell-based operations. This is a full-time, permanent position, ideal for an experienced professional looking to establish long-term stability with a respected local company.The role involves a balanced workload of steel and precast lifting (50/50 split) across a modern fleet of Liebherr all-terrain cranes (100T and 40T) and a HIAB unit. This position is opening in preparation for the phased retirement of a long-standing team member, offering a smooth handover and ongoing mentorship.About the CompanyCrane Works NZ Ltd is a Central Otago-based crane services company operating under the Calder Group, a well-regarded name in the region's construction and engineering industries. With a strong emphasis on safety, professionalism, and staff development, they pride themselves on building long-standing relationships with clients and retaining dedicated personnel across all levels of the business.Key Responsibilities

Operate mobile and all-terrain cranes for lifting and placing steel and precast components.
Conduct pre-start inspections and ensure all equipment is operated in accordance with safety protocols.
Work collaboratively with site teams to plan and execute lifts safely and efficiently.
Transport crane components and loads as required (truck licence required).
Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to lifting operations.
Ensure compliance with all company health, safety, and environmental standards.

Essential Requirements

Demonstrated experience operating mobile cranes, including Liebherr models (preferably 5+ years experience)
Experience with both steel and precast concrete lifting operations.
HIAB operation experience (preferred but not essential).
Current New Zealand Class 4 (or higher) truck licence.
Proven commitment to safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Reliable, self-motivated, and proactive work ethic.
