Job Description We are innovative, forward thinking dairy farmers who place high value on animal health and well-being as well as thoughtful pasture/soil management. We have an awesome job available next season where the cows meet you at the shed, so you can sleep in a little longer or enjoy your coffee at home instead of sitting behind the cows in the dark. We are experienced Halter farmers and excited to be planning the installation of the virtual fencing technology on our next farm in Patoka, Hawkes Bay. The time Halter saves us allows us to focus more on our cows, look after our pasture and soils, and engage in projects to keep the farm moving forward. We will milk 450 spring calving Friesian and Flekvieh cows OAD all season through a 40bale rotary with auto cup removers, in bale teat sprayer, SCC testing and auto drafting. Our farm is certified organic, you dont need to have experience with organics but enthusiasm and willingness to learn is very important. Start date is flexible, we aren't in a hurry to appoint this position. What's more important is finding a person who fits well with our small team, can work independently, is motivated with strong work ethic and similar values. Our ideal applicant already has some experience/knowledge in dairy and is keen to learn and grow with our team. You will need to be (or become) competent with two-wheelers, quad bikes, tractors and implements. You must be drug-free and maintain a clean/tidy home. We offer a competitive remuneration package including a comfortable 4 bedroom house with private surrounds on the primary school bus route.
