- Provide hands-on support to teachers and kaiako so they can deliver high-quality curriculum and marau ā-kura with a focus on literacy and numeracy.
- Work alongside parents, families, whānau and iwi to design a curriculum that reflects the aspirations of all ākonga and their whānau, is aligned to the national curriculum and reflects local needs.
- Work with curriculum resources, rauemi and guidelines such as Ka Hikitia, Te Hurihanganui, Tapasā and Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori, the Wellbeing and Mental Health Education Guidelines, refreshed Relationship and Sexuality Education Guidelines and Hauora (curriculum) and Social and Emotional Learning resources. Familiar with Tāhūrangi.
- Build collaborative networks within communities and actively share local practices.'
- Strong knowledge of Primary and Intermediate curriculum would be an added advantage
- Proven experience in building and maintaining effective relationships and partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.
- Strong, proven curriculum design expertise and a deep working knowledge and practical experience in literacy and communication or maths teaching (early learning, primary or secondary), or te reo matatini or pāngarau teaching (kaupapa Māori or Māori medium), is essential. - Extensive knowledge and experience in teaching and learning, leadership, and curriculum and assessment theory and practice, with an ability to support professional change in education settings.
- Familiarity with te ao Māori and understanding of Te Reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori is essential for Curriculum Leads working in kaupapa Māori and Māori medium settings.
- The ability to confidently use Māori bodies of knowledge and experience to inform and improve the design of curriculum, including the championing of Mana Ōrite mō te mātauranga Māori.
- Experiential knowledge and competencies in supporting curriculum design that has evidenced improved outcomes for diverse communities.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of education contexts at a practical level.
