Company DescriptionThis role sits in the Council’s Customer and Community Group who provide facilities and services that help create a safe, vibrant and inclusive city, comprising community facilities, parks and recreation, customer services, city safe, and resilience and regulatory services.We are looking for a Business and Planning Lead to join our Customer and Community Services Unit within our Customer and Community Group. We are focused on making Hamilton a more attractive and livable city, and this role will be responsible for leadership and continuous.Job DescriptionHe angituutanga: The opportunityReporting to the Group Business Manager, you will provide high level advice and support across a range of functions and deliverables.This type of role doesn’t come up often and provides a unique opportunity for someone to make a significant contribution not only to the organisation but also contribute to the future of Hamilton.This is an eight month fixed term position to cover an internal secondment.WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Provide leadership and support to your team
  • Optimise the performance and productivity of the administration team
  • Actively support and develop positive and constructive relationships within the Unit, Council staff and other key stakeholders
  • Liaise with various business units across council to ensure the effective delivery of organisational business priorities
  • Provide proactive financial support to the Unit Managers to build financial acumen, understand monthly variances and ensure forecasts are updated
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Annual and Long Term Plan on behalf of the Unit
  • Prepare Council Papers and ad hoc reports as required
  • Lead Business improvement and transformation initiatives across the Unit.
  • Develop and improve systems and processes, across the Unit with an emphasis on simplification.
QualificationsOo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Business Management, Accounting or similar is preferrable
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with an emphasis on strategic business decision making
  • An understanding and commitment to the principals of Te Tiriti O Waitangi
  • Proven Leadership experience
  • Effective relationship management skills
  • Well developed communication skills including report writing capability.
