Infectious Diseases Physician - Expressions of InterestThe Team
Our Infectious Diseases Service at Health New Zealand - Canterbury provides comprehensive diagnostic and clinical management support for patients with complex infections requiring specialist care. The department is currently staffed by five part-time Physicians who work collaboratively to deliver high-quality outcomes for our patients.The RoleWe are seeking an Infectious Diseases Physician to join our team at Christchurch Hospital - the largest tertiary, teaching, and research hospital in the South Island. This is a 0.45 FTE permanent vacancy (with flexibility to split the hours), for a physician who is eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.In this role, you will:
  • Provide specialist medical care and consultation for inpatients and outpatients requiring Infectious Diseases expertise.
  • Offer specialist verbal and written advice to fellow Consultants, primary care providers, and health agencies as needed.
  • Contribute to the education, supervision, and clinical guidance of Resident Medical Officers and the Infectious Diseases nursing team.
About YouTo succeed in this role, you will:
  • Hold qualifications equivalent to a Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), enabling registration as an Infectious Diseases Physician with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
  • Be comfortable participating in the after-hours on-call roster.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a team environment.
