- Lead the team developing and implementing the new District Plan.
- Manage the procurement of professional services, including legal services, within the allocated budget for the plan's development.
- Collaborate across the Council and the Policy and Planning Group, actively contributing to the overall Planning and Policy work program.
- Head public consultation and engagement, administering hearings and legal proceedings in alignment with best practices and legal processes.
- Influence Council decisions on the District Plan's development and serve as a witness in Environment Court proceedings.
- Collaborate with the Strategic Relationships Group to consult with and empower Strategic Partners and Stakeholders.
- Provide unbiased policy advice based on a strong evidence base for both operative and proposed District Plans.
- Develop implementation and monitoring plans with the Delivery and Operations Group and the People and Transformation Group.
- Ensure the effective and efficient maintenance of the District Plan, including plan changes.
- Minimum 3 years in leadership roles overseeing integrated spatial plans, District Plan reviews, or masterplans in a complex organizational setting.
- 5+ years of experience as a Resource Management Act policy planner.
- Essential qualifications and training in leadership, with a relevant tertiary degree in planning or related field.
- Strongly desirable to hold a relevant project management qualification.
- Demonstrated report writing skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office packages.
