- Advising clients and architects on building performance requirements for human comfort, operational energy, embodied carbon and compliance.
- Leading and carrying out sustainability studies and assessments including:
- Microclimate study
- Computational Fluid Dynamic simulation
- Energy simulations
- Natural and artificial lighting simulations
- Leading Green Star projects and creating a pathway for projects to achieve the Green Star target; working with other disciplines to embed sustainability into their designs and achieve Green Star requirements.
- Providing coaching and guidance to a small team, resource planning and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Energy modelling, performance analysis, building simulation and using practical engineering to develop sustainable and innovative building designs for local and international clients.
- Tertiary qualification in building physics, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering or related discipline, with significant knowledge in a related industry.
- Solid experience and knowledge in building physics including energy and daylight studies and the application of relevant rating tools.
- Knowledge of energy simulation software, e.g. IES VE, E-tool, Oneclick LCA, Grasshopper, DIVA etc.
- Strong understanding and experience in the use of sustainability rating tools, including Green Star, ILFI, LEED, WELL, ISC, NABERsNZ and others.
- Good understanding of the NZ sustainability market and building engineering, including building services, structural engineering and the practicalities of integrating sustainable design initiatives into these disciplines.
- Experience with leading successful teams, mentoring and developing team members.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
