Lead a residential mental health youth respite service. Oversee quality service delivery, support and lead the team and work with external agencies.About the Role
Our client is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Service Manager to lead a community based residential youth respite service, providing essential care and support for rangatahi aged 16-25. Working closely with the community mental health teams this service helps to prevent the need for inpatient mental health or alcohol and other drug (AOD) services.
  • Monday - Friday role
  • Work core business hours between 8am - 5pm
  • On-call once every 4-6 weeks
  • Leadership position for a passionate social services professional
  • Residential service for 5-6 young people at a time
  • Stay durations vary, from short-term (a few months) to long-term (a year or more)

What You'll Do
  • Provide leadership and emotional support to your team, ensuring they have the resources and guidance needed to offer the best care possible.
  • Work closely with external agencies to process referrals and ensure a smooth transition for new residents.
  • Offer compassionate, solution-focused responses to challenges within the home, drawing on your frontline experience in social services.
  • Ensure staff training, policies, and compliance requirements are met, creating a safe and well-prepared team.
  • Oversee rostering and team coverage, ensuring continuity of care for the young people.
  • Be a key point of contact within the wider organisation, offering insights and support as needed.
  • Attend meetings alongside mental health professionals, young people, and their families to foster a collaborative and supportive approach.
Skills and Experience
  • Full registration with SWRB, DAPAANZ or NZAC + current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Leadership experience in social services, with at least 1 year of team management in youth-focused care.
  • Background in family counselling, school counselling, or youth work is highly valued.
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
