We’re looking for an experienced Environmental Policy Analyst who is passionate about shaping smart water strategies and wants to be part of a team that’s driving real change, You’ll join our Planning, Strategy and Programming team, where ideas flow freely, and flexibility is part of the culture.In this role, you’ll keep a close eye on external policy and legislation and help us stay ahead of the curve by improving internal strategies, policies, bylaws and processes. You’ll work closely with iwi partners and key stakeholders to make sure our water strategies are aligned with Council’s big-picture goals. You’ll also lend your project management and planning skills to support resource consent applications for water activities like wastewater treatment and water abstraction.No two days are the same…. you might be out chatting with stakeholders, writing up reports and submissions, or presenting your insights to elected members. We’re a flexible bunch, so you’ll have the freedom to work from home and in the office.   • 3+ years’ experience in policy analysis and development - ideally within water, wastewater or storm water
  • Relevant tertiary qualification that includes study of environmental or policy analysis and planning.
  • Advanced communication skills both verbally and written (including with technical information)
  • You are an analytical and critical thinker that can approach situations from a non-biased position
  • Thrive when you are organised and structured but still adaptable to changes
  • Naturally curious - you seek information out from stakeholders and subject matter experts
  • Respect differing opinions and values
