Head Medical have Orthopaedic opportunities suited to post foundation trainees who have completed a rotation within Orthopaedics. You will be based in Hastings in a large secondary level hospital and enjoy working in a supportive team environment.

The RoleYou will be based in a large secondary level, 400 bed accredited public hospital providing acute and elective care for a region of over 162,000 people. It is one of the largest provincial hospitals in New Zealand. The hospital is modern with a full range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services. In addition, outreach services are provided at rural and community based facilities across the region in Wairoa and Waipukurau.There is a great opportunity to enhance both trauma and elective surgical exposure and experience. There is a new state of the art orthopaedic theatre with daily consultant led trauma lists. While enjoying a wide variety of inpatient cases, you will also be expected to attend outpatient clinics, theatre and clinical meetings including Grand Round, X-Ray and Orthopaedic meetings. You will work closely within a supportive team of 9 Registrars, 9 Orthopaedic Surgeons, and 4 House Officers.
  • Participate in daily consultant-led trauma lists and benefit from exposure to a wide variety of inpatient cases.
  • Enhance your skills through direct involvement in complex cases, both in theatre and clinic settings.
  • Take advantage of regular educational meetings, including Grand Rounds, and collaboration with experienced surgeons.
