The collegial relationships between departments are strong and consultation with other consultants is easy, either formally with multidisciplinary meetings or informally as required. There is an active postgraduate medical society and there are excellent clinical library facilities.The Gastroenterology Department serves the university town of Palmerston North, and the Manawatu district providing outpatient gastroscopy and colonoscopy, ERCP, liver elastography, outpatient clinical care, inpatient gastroenterology care and bowel cancer screening services to the 180,000 people across the region district. The department is affiliated to the University of Otago, has a training gastroenterology registrar and a research relationship with Massey University. This environment provides excellent opportunity for both teaching and research.This position will see you providing inpatient, outpatient and day care services in gastroenterology, performing endoscopy and ERCP and teaching junior doctors.PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
- To be eligible to apply for this position you should be a qualified gastroenterologist and hold the FRACP or equivalent specialist qualification recognized by the Medical Council of New Zealand for vocational registration.
- You must either hold vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand, be eligible for locum tenens or VOC3 registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand
- You must be proficient in the performance of endoscopic procedures and ERCP
- this job attracts a basic salary for the 40 hour working week and allowances for on call duties; the range of basic salary is NZD$ 190,000 dollars to 270,000 dollars per annum
