You'll join a collaborative culture where ideas are valued, and your leadership will directly influence the future of data and AI capability.About the RoleAs Head of Data & AI, you'll design and lead the enterprise data and AI strategy, driving adoption and maturity across the organisation. Reporting to the GM of Operational Excellence, you'll lead a team of six and work closely with senior leaders, including the ELT and Board, to embed data-driven decision-making. This role blends strategic vision with practical delivery, ensuring initiatives are commercially viable and aligned to business goals.As a flexible employer, our client will enable you to work from any of their key business hubs in Taranaki, Auckland or Wellington, supporting you to live the lifestyle you choose.Day to Day Responsibilities
  • Define and execute the organisation's Data and AI strategy, including governance and standards.
  • Lead advanced analytics and AI initiatives, ensuring delivery within scope, budget and timelines.
  • Engage with ELT and Board to influence and educate on data value and AI opportunities.
  • Partner with internal teams and external vendors to deliver innovative, scalable solutions.
  • Drive cultural change to improve data literacy and embed data-driven decision-making.
Skills & Experience RequiredYou will be a strategic leader with strong EQ and the ability to influence at the highest levels, as well as bringing the below:
  • Proven leadership in data, analytics or AI, with experience in enterprise-level strategy.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, including ELT and Board-level communication.
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms (Azure, Databricks) and cloud-native AI/ML tools.
  • Understanding of agile delivery and pragmatic approach to financial viability of solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts into business outcomes.
