Thie Senior Data Engineer role will lead the design and implementation of full source to target reconciliations across 300+ pipelines, create the automated alerting we've been missing, and publish transparent outcomes to dashboards and reporting-so our stakeholders can trust the data, spot issues quickly, and evidence control to auditors and regulators. Design & implement a reusable reconciliation framework that performs full record level checks (e.g. checksums, unique keys) between source systems and downstream targets-capturing history, outcomes, and an audit trail for each run.
Automate & operationalise the reconciliations as part of our CI/CD flow, including failure triage, issue logging, and automatic alerts to the right people at the right time.
Make outcomes visible by publishing control status and trends via Power BI dashboards, with drill-downs for engineers and concise views for business/risk partners.
Engineer the path to cloud-start on-prem (building/obtaining extracts from source systems as needed), then evolve patterns for Snowflake/dbt/StreamSets, environment segregation and platform observability.
Champion observability across the pipeline stack (dashboards, logs, alerts) so we detect breaks early and reduce manual effort.

Ō pūkenga | About You

Strong SQL and Python with a track record of building production data pipelines and controls, ideally including reconciliation/DQ patterns.
Experience with WhereScape RED, dbt and StreamSets, and comfortable with Power BI for publishing control outcomes.
Risk & control mindset: you think in terms of evidence, auditability, and reliable customer outcomes, and you proactively address data integrity issues.
Understanding of DevOps practices including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) and automated testing. Experienced in orchestrating data workflows using tools like Prefect or Airflow, ensuring robust, scalable, and maintainable pipelines across environments.
Bonus: familiarity with Financial Crime data and the regulatory context we operate in.
