Here at Teknique, we're looking to expand our talented team based on Auckland's North Shore as we accelerate our product roadmap. Working in collaboration with partners throughout the world, the ecosystem we operate in provides opportunity to be on the cutting edge of artificial intelligence and computer vision, developing our range of vision components that enable machines to see, interpret, understand and react to the world around them.

As an experienced Data Scientist, you'll be part of a collaborative, inclusive team responsible for enabling the next generation of smart devices, products, and systems. Supported by passionate and engaged engineers, you'll be able to develop new products and solutions while becoming ingrained in the world of vision and AI sensor technology.

On a day-to-day basis you might be:
  • Understanding, meeting (and exceeding!) our customers's requirements for our world leading computer vision and AI products.
  • Researching, developing and evaluating state-of-the-art computer vision algorithms for Computer Vision and related image processing tasks
  • Sourcing and annotating data for Machine Leaning algorithms, and using external and developing internal tools to gather, process, and optimize that data.
  • Evaluating best-in-class research into CNN and other ML networks.
  • Proposing and implementing creative, efficient solutions for vision and control problems
  • Failing but learning from it
  • Experiencing what its like to work on bleeding edge computer vision and AI technology

Requirements
  • Real world experience with Deep Neural Networks especially CNN, and RNN and have applied Neural Networks to solve a real world problem or improve conditions
  • Experience with Deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow, Caffe, Caffe2 and Pytorch, including relevant Cloud services and tools
  • Experience in Data Mining and managing and annotating and cleaning large data sets used for Machine Learning/Computer Vision including classification, clustering, natural language processing, recommendation systems, etc
  • Experience with Open CV or similar
  • Good verbal and written communication skills and able to build good relationships
  • Knowledge of scripting and programming languages (e.g. Python, Ruby, Perl, PowerShell, Golang, etc.)
  • Understands statistics and linear algebra
  • Good Linux development knowledge
  • Understands value of robust quality and test procedures
  • Relevant qualification or equivalent work experience, with a minimum of 4 years relevant work experience
  • Ongoing professional and personal development
  • Microsoft Office Outlook, Word; and Excel to an intermediate level
  • Able to work under pressure

Nice to have!
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Continuous integration tools (Jenkins, Travis-CI, GoCD) experience
  • Unit testing and automated testing tools experience
  • Experience in robotics and cameras
  • Image processing experience
  • Embedded software development
  • Electronic hardware design
  • Programming background with strong, proven C and C++/OO experience
  • Ability to travel overseas to work with customers and suppliers
  • Natural interest in technology
