The opportunity to effect real change for tamariki and whānau doesn't come along every day, but right now you have the chance to join our Family Works team to make a real lifetime difference.We are looking for a colleague to work across our Buddy and Group Programmes as a Buddy Programme and Group Programme Coordinator within the Family Works team at Presbyterian Support Otago (PSO).Established over 30 years ago in Otago, Presbyterian Support Otago's Buddy Programme is known for its commitment to supporting tamariki, and now you can secure this role alongside that of Group Programme Coordinator delivering our children's and other selected groups within the community.About the RoleYou will work within a local multidisciplinary team who deliver a range of Family Works services in the Central Otago / Queenstown Lakes regions. You will also be supported by 6 Buddy Coordinators and 3 Group Programme Coordinators who are located across the greater Otago / Queenstown Lakes region, alongside the wider regional Family Works and Presbyterian Support Otago team.As a Buddy Programme Coordinator, you will coordinate adult volunteers and match them with tamariki aged between 5 to 12 years. The buddies spend time together having fun, and the best part of this role is seeing buddies try new experiences together and build lasting friendships. As the Group Programme Coordinator, you will co-facilitate our parenting and children's groups, and watch change happen before your eyes for tamariki and their whānau.Hours: This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week. This role will involve flexible working hours as some evening and weekend work is required to meet the needs of both programmes.Key tasks for this role include:
  • Recruiting, training and supporting adult buddies
  • Arranging suitable matches between the adult and young buddies
  • Coordinating and attending regular adult buddy supervision sessions
  • Organising fun Buddy Programme outings
  • Undertaking assessments for tamariki and whānau attending either Buddy or Group Programme services
  • Co-facilitating Group Programmes
  • Upholding the fidelity of our Parenting and Group Programme delivery
About You
  • We are looking for someone who:
  • Is passionate about achieving positive results for tamariki and their whānau
  • Is a “people person” who is great at building relationships and a clear communicator
  • Can work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Can work flexible hours, which may include after school, weekends and nights (when required)
