As well as providing Ambulance Services, our programmes and team of over 11,000 staff and volunteers are helping to build strong, resilient communities across the motu; supporting everyone in Aotearoa to live healthier, happier and longer lives.Job DescriptionHe aha te tūranga - About the role:Our Community Education team empowers young people with essential life skills, helping them build confidence in first aid and mental wellbeing. As a Community Educator, you'll visit schools and early childhood centres across the wider Northland area, delivering engaging, high-energy sessions that inspire tamariki to look after themselves and others.
  • 3 days per week (24h), permanent part-time - programme delivery occurs during school hours, while planning and admin can be done at times that suit you
  • Travel required to schools/kura across Northland
  • Work-use car provided
  • $29 per hour

- Modules to suit pre-school tamariki through to year 8, learning about emergency services and how to respond in an emergency - a mental health module for Year 5-8 students - a flexible programme that looks at the potential of our rangatahi (youth), nurturing them to grow as future rangatira (leaders) in their whanau and communityWith both curricula already designed, your role is to bring them to life! You'll create an engaging learning environment, adapting your approach to different age groups and learning styles.QualificationsKo wai koe - About you:We're looking for someone who:
  • Has a genuine passion for empowering tamariki
  • Loves working with young people and can engage them in a meaningful way
  • Has an understanding of diverse cultures and learning styles
  • Can adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups and needs
  • Is well-organised with great time management skills
  • Holds a full, clean NZ driver's licence
A basic knowledge of Te Reo Māori is highly desirable but not essential.Frequently Asked Questions:What happens during school holidays?You have flexibility! Options include:
  • Running sessions for early childhood education (ECE) or holiday programmes,
  • Taking annual leave, and/or
  • Opting for leave without pay.
We'll work with you to find the best fit for your needs.How much admin is involved?Approximately 20% of your role will be admin-related.Who books the education sessions?Initially, we'll handle bookings while you settle in.
