It is one of the largest provincial hospitals in New Zealand. The hospital is modern with a full range of surgical, medical, oncology and radiological services. In addition, outreach services are provided at rural and community based facilities across the region in Wairoa and Waipukurau.Mental Health Services are centred around two large community teams providing Child, Adolescent and Family Service, Home Based Treatment, Maternal Mental Health, Te Ara Manapou, Consultation-Liaison, Emergency Mental Health teams, Older Persons and Addiction services. The in-patient unit is on the Regional Hospital campus in Hastings and features high and medium intensity treatment areas as well as an intensive day treatment unit. Local residential addictions treatment service is provided in Napier and an opioid substitution programme is provided in both major population centres.LocationThe Hawke’s Bay region (pop. 162,000) is set on the beautiful East Coast of the North Island.
