Working in AucklandThe greater Auckland region has three Te Whatu Ora districts and four varied teaching hospitals (North Shore, Waitakere, Auckland City and Middlemore). Working as a Chemical Pathology Registrar means that you have the opportunity to rotate two of these districts, which will give you exposure to a variety of different aspects of Chemical Pathology and learn within our diverse multicultural environment.Working as a Chemical Pathology RegistrarBy joining the Auckland Region as a Chemical Pathology Registrar, you will be joining an exciting sub-specialty in Pathology, surrounded by a team of talented and supportive professionals. You will gain comprehensive experience in the technical analysis of different biomarkers in biological fluids and in their applications in clinical medicine. There will also be opportunities in research and development of new tests.Our training programmeThe New Zealand training programme is run through the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA). The Auckland region is accredited for the entire five years of the required RCPA training as trainee will be rotated between 2 accredited training centres (Auckland Hospital laboratory and Middlemore Hospital laboratory).Eligibility Criteria
  • You should have completed two years as a House Officer
  • Strong aptitude for, and interest in, the scientific basis of medicine and laboratory work
  • Familiarity with information systems and data analysis
  • Leadership potential
