We're on the hunt for an experienced and enthusiastic Event Chef to join our clients dynamic team. Working closely with our Head Chefs, you'll be hands-on in prepping, cooking, and plating beautiful dishes for a wide range of events across the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, and occasionally Auckland.
This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in the fast-paced events and catering scene, loves bringing creativity to the kitchen, and just gets stuff done with pride and attention to detail.Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute high-quality menus for banquets and events
- Lead and supervise kitchen teams, ensuring smooth coordination
- Maintain top-tier food quality, flavour, and presentation
- Manage food prep and set-up for stations, buffets, and plated services
- Monitor stock levels and order supplies as needed
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene standards are consistently met
- Travel to event sites and assist with kitchen setups/pack-downs
- Confidently direct and motivate teams of up to 20+ during events
- 5+ years' experience in banqueting/events (preferably with an event company or upscale hotel)
- Strong leadership skills - you're a confident delegator and team player
- Proven ability to read and execute BEOs (Banquet Event Orders) like a pro
- Full NZ driver's license - travel is part of the gig
- Self-starter with a positive, can-do attitude
- Flexible, reliable, and cool under pressure
- Happy to travel and stay overnight when needed (e.g., Rotorua-based events)
- Work in epic locations and venues
