Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the roleTe Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently seeking applications for a three-month fixed-term Ian Gordon Postdoctoral Fellow. Ian Gordon Fellowships are funded from a donation made to Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington by Emeritus Professor Ian Gordon in 2004 to support research in Te Kura Tātari Reo - School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies.The Fellow will carry out a research project which they propose, which complements or extends current research in the School. This will be overseen by a Mentor in the School. The Fellow is also expected to contribute to the academic and cultural life of the School, e.g. giving guest lectures, a research seminar, and workshops for students, in agreement with the Head of School.Ō pūmanawa - About youThe Fellow will be appointed full-time for up to three months between 1 February and 30 November 2026. The Fellow will be part of the Te Kura Tātari Reo - School of Linguistics and Applied Language Studies and is expected to be regularly on campus.You will have been awarded a PhD or submitted your thesis for examination, at the application closing date. The thesis should be in applied linguistics, linguistics or a related area. The PhD award date must have been within the past 12 months as at the application closing date (not counting career interruptions).Applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand.
