CEMETERIES OFFICERWe are looking for a Cemeteries Officer to be responsible for the cemeteries functions across the northern part of our district. A person who can work in partnership with the established District Cemeteries Coordinator.About the roleIn this role you will work alongside the District Cemeteries Coordinator in managing the 18 active cemeteries spread throughout the district.The role is responsible for the coordination and overview of the northern cemeteries activity, ensuring services are delivered in an effective and customer focussed way, exhibiting appropriate sensitivity particularly when dealing with the bereaved and next of kin.While responsible for the northern cemeteries on a day to day basis the expectation is that the role will provide cover for the District Cemeteries Coordinator as required.This is an office-based role with some travel across the district including site visits. The preference is for the role to beAbout youHonesty, Enthusiasm, Accountability, Respect and Teamwork are considered core competencies for all staff.Experience working in Local Government, with the Burial and Cremation Act and Health Act or willingness to learn about the implications of these Acts.Understanding of Te Ao Māori, to ensure cultural values and practices, is a must as well as demonstrated experience working in a customer services role where a high degree of sensitivity and empathy is required.Cemetery operation and management experience would be a bonus, but we are open to finding a person with the right attitude who is open to learning the role from our experienced team.About usIf you are considering a sea change, we encourage you to apply.
