We have been mandated by one of New Zealand’s leading fund managers to appoint an Associate into their private equity team. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the full investment lifecycle in the New Zealand market - from sourcing opportunities and executing transactions through to supporting portfolio company growth.The successfully appointed candidate will work closely with other members of the private equity team and is expected to be an all-rounder - bringing both analytical rigour and commercial acumen, while also demonstrating strong interpersonal and communication skills.Key responsibilities include:
  • Evaluating and executing new investment opportunities
  • Building and maintaining financial models, valuations, and investment papers
  • Coordinating elements of M&A due diligence across commercial, financial, and legal workstreams
  • Monitoring portfolio performance and contributing to strategic initiatives
  • Preparing clear, high-quality reporting and insights for stakeholders
We’re seeking candidates who offer:
  • 3–7 years’ experience in investment banking, Big Four M&A advisory/corporate finance, or private equity
  • Advanced financial modelling and valuation skills (LBO, DCF, comparables)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging stakeholders
