We are committed to supporting the revitalisation of te reo Māori, encouraging all trustees to use te reo in their Board activities, advocate for mātauranga Māori and demonstrate openness to te ao Māori.About the roleThe purpose of this position is to:
  • provide leadership and governance to protect and enhance the assets and interests of Ngā Taonga;
  • contribute to the Board so it can achieve its objectives to ensure our sustainability and ability to operate and fulfil its goals and aspirations;
  • be a voice for Māori cultural values and perspectives, and advocate for mātauranga Māori in all aspects of the organisation;
  • provide expertise to the Board in mātauranga Māori and iwi/Māori engagement; and
  • if elected Co-Chair, manage the relationship with the Minister for Arts, Culture & Heritage, provide the primary relationship with the CE and chair meetings.
Ngā Taonga are searching for Independent Trustees with proven governance experience and deep knowledge of tikanga to fill one of their three Māori Trustee positions. Experience working in partnership with iwi Māori and any connections to the broadcasting sector, experience with digital projects or digital preservation would also be highly regarded.
You will be expected to attend monthly hui, practice due diligence in decision-making and positively contribute to the strategic vision and direction of Ngā Taonga. This is a paid Board position.APPLICATIONS CLOSE: Sunday, 5th of May 2024
