The role/Te mahiAs a Mechanical Engineer within the Property Services Division, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of high-quality mechanical/engineering/HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning) work on a wide variety of buildings and spaces across the University campus.You will ensure that all works meet the University’s quality standards and that these works continue to meet all regulatory requirements.Key tasks of the role include:
  • Providing professional advice to clients on all Mechanical/Engineering/HVAC trade matters.
  • Contributing to resolution of ongoing code of compliance issues and building warrant of fitness items for Property Services.
  • Carrying out physical supervision of Mechanical/Engineering/HVAC trainees.
  • Co-ordinating with Facility Managers on the installation and maintenance of services within buildings.
  • Managing the documentation process of As Built’s and Operation Manuals for mechanical/engineering/HVAC undertakings on the Otago Campus.
  • Co-ordinating all Mechanical/Engineering/HVAC work with relevant staff and contractors for the University of Otago.
In addition, you will be required to provide technical expertise in the design of specific Mechanical/Engineering/HVAC services campus wide.Your skills and experience/ Kā pūkeka me kā wheakoSuccessful candidates will have:
  • An Engineering/Mechanical/HVAC qualification.
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience of complex mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • General knowledge of materials, equipment, and sub-trades relative to the building industry.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • A result focussed and client centred service ethic.
  • The ability to co-ordinate with other trades and contractors.
