The role will be responsible for developing and overseeing the implementation of educational and outreach programmes aimed at senior secondary school students and teachers. A key purpose of the role is to facilitate the transition of secondary school students into Faculty of Engineering programmes at Victoria University of Wellington. The person appointed will play a key role in supporting the delivery of 100-level courses to year 12 and 13 secondary school students (via the STAR Programme).Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a key coordination and support role for the delivery of 100-level Faculty of Engineering courses to senior secondary school students.
  • Provide a distinctive and highly valued experience for secondary students by organising engagement events for school students, including seminars, workshops, information sessions, contests, and clubs.
  • Support the development and implementation of new innovative programs and clear pathways for senior secondary students studying in years 12 and 13 to facilitate their future enrolment and success at the University.
  • Work with the recruitment, marketing and communications staff, and staff in the Faculty of Engineering to promote the outreach programmes and initiatives.
  • Develop materials and resources for various channels as need to support relevant events and initiatives. This includes print, video, audio, and digital materials.

  • Bachelor’s degree in science with a strong background in Engineering, Computer Science or Mathematics.
  • A teaching qualification in secondary or adult education.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability in group facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience of developing and maintaining effective relationships, both internally and externally, and building strong networks with communities and organisations.
  • Project management coordination skills including defining project scope, drafting plans, identifying opportunities and risks and ensuring accountability.
