We're on the lookout for a dedicated and people-first Retail Manager to lead the charge in delivering exceptional customer service, strong community connections, and commercial excellence across multiple locations.As the Retail Manager, you'll head up a profitable multisite operation under our ‘hub and spoke' model, combining retail stores and private box lobbies. You'll lead from the front - building a high-performing team, creating seamless customer experiences, and driving performance in both service and sales.You'll achieve this through:
  • Customer Experience: Delivering signature sending, receiving and retail experiences - simple, human, and reliable. Making every visit feel personal, helpful, and worth coming back for.
  • Community Care: Bringing to life the values of manaakitanga (hospitality and respect) and tauwhirotanga (nurturing and care) in every interaction - from welcoming customers warmly to supporting your team's wellbeing.
  • People Leadership: Leading a motivated team through effective recruitment, training, coaching and performance management. Creating a positive, growth-oriented environment where people thrive.
  • Safety & Wellbeing: Championing a culture of safety and care - ensuring every store operates to high health & safety standards and that staff wellbeing is always top of mind.
  • Operational Excellence: Ensuring smooth day-to-day operations - from private box mail processing and parcel services to retail merchandising, inventory, and store presentation. You'll support innovation and pilot new tech where needed.
  • Commercial Savvy: Managing store-level P&L and keep a close eye on cost control. Leveraging local insights to grow revenue and leading the delivery of both national and local marketing initiatives.
Mōu - About youWith a strong background in customer facing roles, you'll be an experienced people leader who has a real passion for people leadership, growing and developing their teams.You'll combine this with
  • A strong understanding of customer service best practices, including escalations and resolution management
  • Financial acumen and ability to manage budgets and reporting, to interpret financials such as P&L's and sales reports and more importantly knowing what action to take as a result
  • A natural ability to foster relationships and build community trust, coupled with strong communication skills
  • High attention to detail, compliance and administration
  • An inquisitive and observational nature and a continuous improvement mindset
The nature of the role and the environment in which we operate means you'll need to be tech savvy, particularly with solid experience in POS and EFTPOS systems, as well as MS Office tools.
