This is a casual position, as and when required.Previous newborn hearing screening experience would be advantageous but not essential as full training is provided to complete the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 3 (Newborn Hearing Screening). There is an expectation that, initially, time will be spent outside the Bay of Plenty in another District for this training, when then continues as District-based training.Experience in being around mothers and their babies is important. As part of this role the successful candidate will engage with parents and handle their baby to perform the hearing screen, give the result to parents, record and collect data and liaise with professionals.About the Service/LocationThe Bay of Plenty District Newborn Hearing Service is part of the National Universal Newborn Hearing Screening and Early Intervention Programme (Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Bay of Plenty Hauora a Toi is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatāne. We serve a population of approximately 308,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki. You will require good people skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
