From farm to fork, innovation and excellence drive everything we do.About the roleWe're on the lookout for a dedicated Livestock Advisor to join our New Plymouth regional team. In this critical on-the-ground full time permanent role, you'll work autonomously to ensure that broiler production targets are achieved - while championing the health, welfare, and biosecurity of our flocks.This is a role that combines technical know-how, relationship management, and real impact. You'll be working closely with contractors and farm teams to monitor performance, drive continuous improvement, and ensure alignment with Tegel's high standards of animal care and compliance.What you'll be doing?
  • No two days will be the same, but your responsibilities will include:
Driving performance improvements across growth, health, and welfare outcomes in your assigned farmsSupporting compliance across quality, safety, environmental, and animal welfare standardsCollaborating with internal stakeholders - Breeders, Hatchery, Feedmill and Processing - to resolve on-farm issues and unlock opportunitiesLeading or contributing to key farming projects, ensuring clarity, consistency, and outcomes aligned with business goalsProviding relief management for company-operated farms as neededManaging daily operations and maintaining alarm system coverageFlexibility in working hours to respond to operational demandsThis role includes a tool-of-trade vehicle to support your mobility and on-site presence.What will you bring:
  • Minimum 1-year related experience in Broiler farm services or poultry industry
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Agricultural Science or similar
  • Veterinary experience (will be an added advantage)
  • Working knowledge of compliance and biosecurity frameworks
  • A modern, ethical approach to animal welfare and farming practices
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused mindset
