With two wind farms currently under construction and a strong pipeline of future projects, we're looking for a Commercial Advisor to join our Generation Development Team.This is a unique opportunity to contribute to strategically important initiatives that will define the future of energy in New Zealand. You'll provide commercial and analytical support across our development programme, helping to shape investment decisions, strategy, and delivery of renewable generation assets.Why this role?

Tāu e mahi ai | What you'll be doing:
  • Providing commercial advice across Mercury's wind, solar, and battery energy storage (BESS) development pipeline.
  • Supporting strategic initiatives, due diligence, and commercial negotiations for new opportunities and partnerships.
  • Collaborating with Developers, Project Managers, Treasury, and Wholesale teams to ensure alignment and accuracy in modelling and analysis.
  • Leading the development of project and portfolio models, tools, and insights to support decision-making.
  • Contributing to supply chain assessments, procurement strategies, and planning initiatives.
Tāu ka kawe mai | What you'll bring:
  • ~5-7 years' experience in analytical and commercial roles, ideally in the power or renewables sector.
  • A degree in engineering, economics, finance, or a related quantitative discipline (postgraduate qualifications a plus).
  • Strong commercial modelling and analytical skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • A curious, inquisitive mindset - someone who doesn't just crunch numbers, but actively seeks out stakeholder perspectives and business context.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to simplify complex problems into actionable insights.
  • A passion for the energy sector and a desire to grow your leadership and commercial influence.
