We live by our REAL values – Respect, Energy & Effort, Attitude, Leadership – and we demonstrate these through the good work we do, every day, as one team.Nau mai haere mai ki tā mātou whānau |Welcome to our Fulton Hogan FamilyDue to an internal promotion, we are looking for an exceptional health and safety leader to join our Civil Central North Island business based in Tauranga, working alongside a team of Health & safety advisors across multiple projects in the Bay of Plenty, Waikato and East Coast to deliver the good work we are known for.You will be responsible for delivering outstanding H&S leadership, advisory and mentoring to our high performing Civil project teams on the frontline to support our people, clients and subcontractor partners. Reporting directly to the Central Civil H&S Manager, to support our people on our Living Safely journey.Key responsibilities include:
  • Ensuring the implementation and consistent application of our systems, plans, policies, initiatives and strategy within your projects.
  • Building trusting relationships to influence and collaborate on solutions.
  • Lead and support your projects to deliver all aspects of their work, managing safety performance.
  • Providing frontline HS support, advisory and coaching to site teams, subcontractors & clients.
  • Ownership and delivery for project Safety specific events and initiatives.
  • Review and Lead Incident investigations
  • Assisting in the development of site specific HS management plans & safety in-design methodology.
This is a role that requires strong and credible safety leadership with a number of different day-to-day responsibilities so you must have the ability to manage multiple tasks, working in both a re-active and pro-active environment.You will live and breathe safety & wellbeing, quality and environmental excellence, and with your solid industry knowledge, outstanding leadership and high integrity you will have the ability to get everyone aboard the waka.You’ll use your excellent people skills to build genuine and lasting relationships with our subcontractor partners, clients and our people (we’re one big whanau).   • A proven track record of success and time served as a frontline H&S advisor in a high-risk industry.
  • Health and Safety qualifications at level 6 or above (desirable but not essential)
  • Solid knowledge of applicable acts, standards and regulations relating to Health & Safety compliance in civil construction activities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build trust and respect with a diverse workforce at all levels.
  • Advanced skills such as conflict resolution, negotiation & change management.
  • Strong coordination skills and ability to changes tasks while maintaining productivity
  • Excellent problem solving and stress management skills
  • Ability to gather and analyse data, research, compile information and prepare reports
  • Be the conscious of the business, with integrity and honesty
  • Awareness of Safety II and HOP principles
  • High level of computer literacy. Able to train others in the use of proprietary apps and software
