As a team, we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to redirect, neutralise and use waste.Job DescriptionWe have an exciting opportunity for a hands-on Compliance Coordinator to join our high-performing team in Auckland.About the roleThis is not your average support role. You’ll be the operational backbone across three dynamic and diverse sites, each playing a critical role in our sustainability mission:
  • Plastics Recycling Facility – A cutting-edge, state-of-the-art site focused on transforming plastic waste into valuable resources.
  • Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) – A high-throughput site where mixed recyclables are sorted and prepared for reuse.
  • Organics Living Earth (Puketutu) – A unique site dedicated to turning organic waste into nutrient-rich compost.
You’ll work closely with site managers and operational teams to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, compliance, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.You will play a key role in driving compliance with HSEQ systems, improving risk management practices, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and sustainability.QualificationsKey ResponsibilitiesThis role combines field-level advisory support with coordination of key compliance activities to ensure we meet internal standards, legislative obligations, and customer expectations. Our compliance coordinator will:Provide administrative, operational, and logistical support across all three sites, including reporting, data entry, procurement, contractor coordination, and documentation for compliance and performance tracking.Support HSEQ initiatives by assisting with health & safety programs, audits, inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and ensuring corrective actions and documentation (SOPs, JSEAs, hazardous substances registers, etc.) are maintained.Guide managers and staff on compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality legislation and the company’s HSEQ Management System, while coordinating and delivering site-based training, toolbox talks, and committee meetings.Liaise with internal teams, external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and third-party auditors, and act as the primary contact for incident management and injury case handling.Contribute to continuous improvement projects, support implementation of emergency and business continuity plans, and promote sustainability initiatives aligned with circular economy and environmental goals.Additional InformationWhat is in it for me?We offer a very competitive package, and opportunities to further expand your career with New Zealand’s largest waste collection company.You will also be part of a great team committed to providing a comprehensive one-stop service to meet a broad range of facility, waste, recycling and industrial needs of our clients.How to ApplyIf you believe you have the skills and experience to be a part of this exciting and growing business, please click ‘apply now'.Please note - we do not always work to fixed closing dates and may start considering applications as they are received so we encourage you to apply early.WM is an EOE employer and promotes drug and alcohol-free workplaces.Only applications from those with the legal right and ability to work in New Zealand will be considered for this position.
