Our bespoke service is currently supporting three guests, each with their own unique journey. One of our guests requires specialised care due to complex physical and mental health needs, which include wheelchair utilization and manual handling equipment.If you're eager to contribute to a whaiora's journey towards independence - we want to hear from you. You will be working Sunday to Thursday, 3:00pm- 11:30pm, based in Miramar.As a Support Worker some of your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting people with budgeting
- Comprehensive note taking and handovers
- Supporting people regain their mental health and independence
- Provide culturally competent care
- Support people with independent daily living skills
- Support with cleaning, cooking, gardening or helping out with everyday household tasks.
- While the people you support are asleep, you'll stay active with other tasks like cleaning, and helping the day shifts with maintaining filing systems, first aid kits, emergency kits and preparation of paperwork.
- A current full New Zealand driver's licence
- A current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
- Hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) Level 4 or a recognised equivalent or be currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills, ability to build positive working relationships with a non-judgmental attitude
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
- Understanding of recovery-oriented practice and person-centred approaches
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
