Health NZ - Te Whatu Ora - South Island - Te WaipounamuLocation: South IslandService: Critical Care UnitsRole: Allied Health - Social Workers, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Therapists and PharmacistsContract: Full-time and Part-timeAbout the rolesThe Critical Care Expansion Programme has committed funding to support and increase Allied Professions workforce capacity and capability within critical care settings.As a result, we currently have exciting opportunities for experienced Allied Health professionals, with a focus on Social Workers, Dietitians, Physiotherapists, Speech Language Therapists and Pharmacists to join Health NZ- Te Whatu Ora, South Island Region. We have two dynamic main sites who are growing their capacity in their ICU departments.About the districts:Dunedin Hospital and the lifestyle opportunities availableDunedin hospital offers a helicopter retrieval service along with many more opportunities to learn and become involved in. We are a tertiary centre and have access to a gym and library on site, access to in-house training and development as well as access to clinical resources. Known as the Wildlife Capital of New Zealand, Dunedin prides itself on its beautiful built heritage and stunning scenery. Surrounded by dramatic hills, a picturesque beach, Dunedin is one of the best-preserved Victorian and Edwardian cities in the Southern Hemisphere. Dunedin's extensive and sheltered harbour offers excellent opportunities for water-based activities. For cycling enthusiasts, Dunedin provides a wealth of options, from thrilling downhill terrain to more serene cycle routes.Dunedin stands as a city passionate about culinary experiences, where local food enthusiasts showcase their creativity with regionally sourced ingredients. Every Saturday morning, the Otago Farmers Market at the Dunedin Railway Station showcases the finest regional produce and artisan foods, providing an excellent opportunity to sample everything from exquisite chocolate and sweet treats to artisan breads, dips, fresh meat, and produce.Christchurch Hospital and the lifestyle opportunities availableChristchurch hospital is a large and complex organisation made up of 9500 staff, 15 hospitals, a broad range of specialist services and hundreds of different professions, all serving a population catchment area of 501,425. It has a fixed wing retrieval service which gives employees opportunities to be involved in. Christchurch is considered a world leader with a people centred approach to health care and the ability to offer a range of healthcare services from highly specialist services to primary and community services.The urban renewal in central Christchurch is vibrant and captivating. Christchurch is very much a 'foodie' city with restaurant balconies and on-street dining areas overlooking public spaces and gardens along the riverbank. The botanic gardens and Hagley Park offer convenient central green spaces.Christchurch is also a haven for hiking and biking and offers close proximity to world class ski fields.About YouYou will be a highly skilled and experienced Allied Health Professional, with expertise in Social Work, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language or Pharmacy. You'll need to be holding a New Zealand Annual practising certificate, and possess a minimum of 5 years experience ( with knowledge of working in critical care). You will be someone experienced in working wsith people who have complex needs, and have the ability to support tyhe learning of others in an area of expertise.To be successful in this role you will have:
  • ICU experience or critical care exposure ( this is essential)
  • A minimum 5 years experience as a qualified Allied Health Professional
  • The ability to work collaboratively across a multi-disciplinary team
  • Enthusiasm and confidence in sharing your knowledge across your discipline
  • Be eligible for New Zealand Registration
  • New Zealand or Australian citizenship/residency or an appropriate visa to be eligible to live and work
