- Extensive experience working with complex datasets in a large or multifaceted organisation, including data sourcing, processing, and quality assurance.
- Strong technical proficiency, including advanced skills in SQL or SAS to manipulate and analyse large datasets.
- A strategic mindset, with the ability to identify systemic issues, design and implement improvements, and contribute to business planning and operational decision-making.
- Experience working in a data systems environment, including collaborating with digital and IT teams to support the implementation of system upgrades and enhancements. Familiarity with Agile development processes and the ability to translate data requirements into actionable system changes is highly valued.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to present technical information clearly to non-technical audiences and build effective partnerships across teams and agencies.
- Proven leadership and mentoring capability, with a track record of coaching others, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a high-performing, collaborative team culture.
- A commitment to best-practice data management, with a focus on improving the quality, consistency, and usability of data products and processes.
- An understanding of and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, including a developing capability in Māori Crown relations and cultural competency as outlined in Tātai Pou.
