You'll work with district and regional datasets to extract, collate, and present insights that support decision-making and improve service delivery.You will be responsible for producing accurate reports, providing consistent and high-quality analytics, advice, oversight, and direction within the Quality, Safety & Risk Services, and wider stakeholders, including Parliament, the Ministry of Health and the media.About the ServiceThis role sits within the Health Analytics team, part of the Planning, Funding and Outcomes function, and is one of the teams across the Northern region, working together as part of a wider regional team and national team. Our team plays a critical role in delivering data-driven insights that support equitable, effective health services across Aotearoa.The position is based at Te Toka Tumai, located centrally at Grafton, with flexible working arrangements available.About youAs a Data Analyst for the Health Analytics Team, you will have at least 3-5 years' experience as a Data Analyst, as well as:
  • Knowledge of appropriate visualisation tools and data techniques to elicit high-quality insights, create and validate dashboards (e.g. requirements gathering, data cleansing, development of insights and process mapping)
  • An excellent understanding of the fundamentals of analytics and how the discipline is used to create business and customer value.
  • Strong communication skills with the confidence and ability to present and defend decisions in a manner appropriate to the needs of the audience.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, MS Excel, data visualisation platforms, and data warehousing concepts to effectively communicate insights and support decision-making.
  • Experience in applying critical thinking and using sound judgment to develop options and provide advice.
  • Knowledge of the Health Sector and the government.
