The role | Te tūngaThis is a permanent role based in Christchurch reporting to a Technology Services Senior Manager. Your responsibility will be to define architecture standards, aligning data strategies with business goals and providing technical leadership across multiple technology initiatives that are consistent with Stats NZ ICT architecture guidance.This role would suit someone who can bring:
  • Define architecture standards, aligning data strategies with business goals, and providing technical leadership across multiple data initiatives.
  • 7+ years in Solution Architecture with a strong background in data architecture, with at least 3 years in a senior role.
  • Deep knowledge of data platforms, cloud architectures, and modern data stacks.
  • Experience in cloud data platforms (preferably Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Spark or comparative technologies) would be advantageous.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical designs.
  • Provide governance and guidance on solution design, data modelling, integration, transformation and security.
  • Contribute to the design discussions which will guide the development and integration of the technology
  • A collaborative and mentoring approach, sharing technical knowledge across teams and supporting the growth of other architects through coaching and guidance.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of translating complex architectural concepts into accessible information for diverse stakeholders.
  • Your knowledge and experience, or willingness to learn about Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Māori.
