With a clear mission to partner with communities and mana whenua, the organisation delivers innovative science that informs decision-making and shapes sustainable futures.About the role As an Environmental Scientist (Groundwater), you'll play a pivotal role in research, monitoring, and analysis of groundwater quality and quantity. Your work will directly inform strategy, policy, and community outcomes, with responsibilities including:

Designing, implementing, and managing groundwater monitoring and investigation programmes.
Providing technical advice and expert analysis to decision-makers, stakeholders, and community groups.
Contributing to strategies that address natural hazards, climate change, and environmental sustainability.
Building partnerships with research providers, tangata whenua, industry associations, and local/national government agencies.
Translating complex scientific findings into clear, practical advice for diverse audiences.

About you We're looking for a highly motivated scientist who thrives on collaboration, problem-solving, and delivering real-world impact. You will bring:

Postgraduate qualification (MSc or PhD) in a relevant field.
Minimum 3 years' experience in groundwater or related environmental science.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and resource management frameworks.
Proven ability with data analysis, GIS, modelling, and scientific reporting.
Exceptional communication skills with experience engaging iwi, community, and professional stakeholders.
Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and working in partnership with mana whenua.
A current driver's licence and the ability to undertake field-based work.
