This role is based in offices in the heart of Ahuriri, Napier.Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust (MTT) is a Treaty of Waitangi Post Settlement Governance Entity representing the traditional area encompassing Keteketerau (the former outlet of Te Whanganui-ā-Orotu) in the south, to the Waitaha River in the north and from the Maungaharuru Range in the west to the coast and beyond to Tangitū (the sea) in the east.Their balance sheet, and asset base is significant, and the pride of their people is immensely strong. This role is all about protecting these assets, and further enhancing them. We are searching for a commercially astute and growth focused leader to sit across the effective management of the financial and commercial activities for MTT and it's subsidiaries. You will be the right hand to the Chief Executive, with responsibilities spanning a broad and full gamut financial control, strategic guidance, and commercial, contract and fund management.You will be leading and guiding a small and capable finance team, and you will be working closely with MTT's key external finance advisors, partners and stakeholders. This is a great opportunity to help steer, navigate and bring further rigour to the commercial decisions, ongoing development, optimisation and future investment returns across the trust's assets.An affinity and appreciation for the culture and the environment, and confidence in tikanga Māori will be highly regarded here. This will be suited to Finance or Commercial Manager looking to move into a role where you can have a meaningful impact in this region. It is crucial you have proven experience in financial control and providing commercial leadership and guidance. Exposure to fund management and a track record in enhancing and driving positive growth in balance sheets will stand out in your skills and experience.Familiarity with reporting in regulated environments, and knowledge of the reporting requirements associated with trusts will be highly regarded. Ideally you will be CA or CPA qualified. And you will need to be experienced in helping guide commercial strategy and direction, as well as leading financial reporting, compliance, financial modelling, and systems and process improvement.
