Job Description We have an exciting opportunity within our growing Goat Farm. We are a well located, top quality mainly flat contour farm situated in Te Awamutu, farming 900 kidded does (with possibility that Doe Milking Herd could grow), with all kids reared, working with a 32 aside double up. It also includes 25ha of maize grown. This role also includes excellent accommodation options. Role could also be suitable to those who have milked sheep.We are seeking a career focused team player who communicates well at all levels, demonstrates initiative, time management skills and is prepared to take responsibility. Must have a good attitude and work ethic and be able to work as part of a team as well as unsupervised.
Ideally you will have;
1. Management and leadership experience to run a team of 2-3 staff.
2. Have excellent stock handling ability along with knowledge and experience in animal husbandry
3. No surprises communication skills - timely monthly reporting and keeps in touch
4. Proven technical skills in the management of pasture, feeds and feeding (allocation) identifying and implementing strategies for improved production, health and safety initiatives and best practice management.
5. Machinery experience and computer literate.
6. Excellent communication skills with everyone involved in the farm and the ability to prioritise effectively.
7. Ability to maintain environmental and ethical compliance
8. Knowledge of and committed implementation of Health & Safety
9. Be instrumental in upskilling and industry knowledge education opportunities
10. Implement industry best practise in practical implementation and economics (tidy work habits/workplace)
11. Have the ability and be proactive in workplace administration
