Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders.About the RoleWe have the opportunity available to join our Health Protection team as Manager - Compliance in a permanent, full-time role.The primary purpose of the role is to lead the successful implementation and delivery of NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) with compliance and regulatory activities related to Smokefree Environments and Regulated Products Act 1990 and Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act (SSAA).About the Team/Service/ LocationThe National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.About youYou come with advanced experience of the health system, risk management and managing at the political interface. You have experience in the direct line management of staff to achieve strategic outcomes. You have an openness to the views of others and the ability to model an agile approach that helps to foster a culture where individuals bring their ideas and issues for constructive debate and finding improved ways forward. You have networks to support current knowledge of leading practices.
Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or equivalent experience (e.g. Law, Health, Public Administration, Compliance)
Understanding & experience working in partnership with Pacific communities
Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
Able to demonstrate an ability and willingness to effectively manage people and projects of work during times of uncertainty and change
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with people at all levels within the public and private sectors, related industry and community interest groups and the wider national and international communities
Experience developing and implementing activities for improving public health and health protection, through the introduction of effective regulatory approaches to compliance
Experience of public health legislation, regulations and standards in New Zealand, particularly Alcohol, Smokefree and Regulated Products legislation
